Paul W. Monseau's Obituary

Paul W. Monseau, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice on April 1, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on June 20, 1940, in Weirton, West Virginia, to Leon Monseau and Elsie Apitszch Monseau, Paul was a person who never met a stranger. He received a BS in Sales and Marketing from West Liberty University and was employed as a sales representative for 30 years by Procter and Gamble in their paper division, a job perfectly suited to his personality. His territory was the Youngstown, Ohio, area, and he made many friends there. He was always among the first to volunteer when relatives, friends, and neighbors needed help. Unselfish and humble to a fault, he never put himself first and was loved, admired, and respected by many.

Paul met his soon-to-be wife Virginia (Ginger) at a Bobby Vinton-hosted dance in Follansbee, West Virginia, in 1963. After several dances, he asked her for a date, and the rest is history. She knew he was a special man, and she quickly accepted his proposal of marriage. They were married on August 21, 1965, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Steubenville, Ohio, and eventually gave birth to two daughters, Michele and Jennifer.

Paul was a history buff, especially when it came to World War II. Ask him about anything relating to that historical period, and he could expound upon it. He took enrichment classes at a local university in Ohio and would sometimes have long conversations with the professor in class about various historical events, while the other students listened in.

He was also a sports fan. He loved to fish, and he loved to watch college and professional sports on TV. Physical fitness was important to him, and he was a daily regular at the gym, where he made many friends over the years. Paul was also an avid bicyclist, riding around The Villages bedecked in twinkling safety lights, to the amusement and joy of his neighbors. He loved swimming, golfing, and fishing with his grandkids and teaching them those skills.

A lifelong Catholic who served as an altar boy in his youth, Paul faithfully attended Mass every weekend. After retirement he and Ginger moved to The Villages, Florida, where they have lived for 20 years and are parishioners at St. Mark the Evangelist Church.

Paul is survived by his loving wife Ginger; his daughters Michele Monseau and Jennifer Monseau Holibaugh (Adam); and grandchildren Brynn, Miranda, and Alex Holibaugh. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Elsie Monseau, and his siblings, Joseph and Thelma.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Summerfield at 10:00 am, April 22, 2026, with a Celebration of Life luncheon to follow at the Legacy Restaurant at the Nancy Lopez Country Club. The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Leukemia Research Foundation at leukemiarf.org.
