On December 20, 2023 Paula Marie Charles (Perry) passed away peacefully at the age of 73 in North Fort Myers, Florida after a long illness. Paula was born in Portland, Maine to Franklin and Jeanette (Gladu) Perry on January 17, 1950. She lived in the historic Libbytown area and attended schools in Portland.

She married Donald Charles on September 30, 1967. They had two children, Melissa and James. They moved their family to Windham where they lived for more than 30 years. She worked for various employers including Lauren Dyer, Woolco, Brooks Drugs, Unum, and Colonial Electronics. They moved to North Fort Myers, Florida in 2004 where she was a member of the Indiana Club. Point Sebago in Caso was their summer home for several years. Their love was admired by all who knew them. They especially enjoyed entertaining and traveling together.

She was predeceased by her parents, sister-in-law Kathy Charles, son-in-law Samuel Jones, and two brothers, Richard Perry and Franklin Perry. Paula is survived by her husband, Donald of 56 years; her children Melissa Jones of Houston, Texas, James Charles and his wife Kimberly of Newburg, Indiana; grandchildren Kyler and Griffin Charles of Newburg, Indiana, and Mariah Charles of Austin, Texas; three great-grandchildren, sister Joan Blodgett of South Portland, Maine; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. While she loved all of her cousins, she was especially close to her cousin Susan Wilder of Glen Allen, Virginia.
