It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy Ann Chase, born June 22, 1943 in Danville, Illinois, who left us on March 28, 2026 in Safety Harbor, Florida. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, educator, and friend, Peggy’s warm heart, generosity, and passion for learning and teaching left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Peggy dedicated several decades of her life as an educator, primarily at Danville Area Community College, in Danville, Illinois and Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. As a teacher, counselor, and professor she inspired and shaped the lives of countless students, fostering a love for learning that stayed with them long after they left her office and classroom.
Peggy had a deep love for her family, friends, traveling, trivia, horses, and community service. After retirement she supported and volunteered with numerous organizations, including Guardian ad Litem Foundation Inc. of Tampa Bay and Bakas “Horses for Handicapped” Inc.
Peggy is superseded in death by her parents, Richard V. Chase and Dorothy L. Chase; and her dearest and longtime friend, Marjorie Holmes. She is survived by her brother, Richard C. Chase of Hilton Head Island, SC; nieces, Kimberly J. Chase Brady (David), Lisa M. Chase-Ruhl (Andrew), Amanda M. Chase; and multiple great nieces and nephews; and a great great niece.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Philippe Park, 2525 Philippe Pkwy, Safety Harbor, FL from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring her life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in Peggy’s honor.
