IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy J.
Oppermann
December 10, 1937 – September 1, 2024
Peggy Livingston Oppermann, a devoted wife, mother, and nana, went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2024, at the age of 86, at her home in Longwood, Florida. Born on December 10, 1937, in Columbus, Georgia, Peggy's life was a testament to strength, independence, and commitment to family.
Peggy defied the conventions of her time to become a successful businesswoman, reflecting her extraordinary drive and resilience. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own a diverse array of businesses, including restaurants, nightclubs, and retail shops. Peggy was not only a pioneering businesswoman but also a devoted supporter of her community. Her work with the Special Olympics demonstrated her compassion and commitment to empowering others.
She is survived by her husband, Steve, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Her legacy continues through her daughter Christy, son-in-law Stephan, and granddaughters Elyssa and Ashlyn; and her son Steven, her daughter-in-law Danielle, and grandsons Cohen and Rhys. Peggy's family was the center of her world, and her love for them was evident in everything she did.
A memorial service to honor Peggy's life and contributions will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Ida Cason Chapel at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the CORE Florida Foundation (https://corefloridafoundation.org/), an organization close to Peggy's family.
