Obituary

Peter D. Foy, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Ocala, Florida. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Peter lived a full and impactful life marked by professional achievement, deep faith, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Born on August 20, 1940, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Peter was the son of Joseph G. Foy and Geraldine M. Foy. He spent his formative years in Michigan and graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1958. A gifted athlete, he earned four varsity letters in wrestling, track, and football—an early testament to his determination and drive.

Peter continued his education at Western Michigan University, where he graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. That same year marked another pivotal moment in his life: he completed boot camp with the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve in the USMC Reserves until 1968.

Peter's professional journey was as dynamic as it was successful. His professional development spanned across the Unted States beginning his career at Quaker Oats in Chicago, Illinois, where he played a key role in product development—most notably helping bring Cap'n Crunch cereal and Quaker Instant Grits to market. His innovative spirit led him to other positions; one being in Seattle, Washington, where he worked for the New England Fish Company and developed Kitty Kat Food and re-launched Hilton Oyster Stew.

Later relocating to Florida, Peter served as President and CEO of Certified Grocers in Ocala, Florida for 15 years. His leadership left a lasting legacy within the organization and the community it served. Peter was involved in community endeavors by sitting in the Board of Trustees for Munroe Regional Medical Center and The United Way of Marion County. He also held the position of President and CEO at Romanoff Caviar Co. in Carteret, New Jersey for three years before becoming owner of AS Herlong Co., a fruit packing company he ran for five years.

Throughout his life, Peter remained deeply committed to his Catholic faith. He was a devout member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala since 1977 and actively participated in parish life as a member of the church board and the Cursillo group. His

spiritual devotion was a guiding force that shaped both his personal values and community involvement.

Peter shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife Linda Campbell Foy. Together they raised four children: Peter D. Foy Jr., who is father to Joshua, Abigail, and Matthew; John Patrick Foy; Kathleen Foy Paraiso (married to James Paraiso), parents of Andrew, Jacob, Emily, and Bryan; and Mary Foy Mace with her children Hayden and Lindy Mace.

He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Judith Ellen Foy (Keith LaSalle); sisters-in-law Joanie Foy (Joe) and Mary Foy (Tom) as well as many nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by his warmth and humor.

Peter was predeceased by his parents Joseph G. Foy and Geraldine M. Foy; sisters Mary Ellen Foy and Nancy Meisenheimer; and brothers Joseph Foy and Thomas Foy.

Outside of work and family life, Peter found joy in simple pleasures—playing handball with friends, taking long "forced march" walks, tending to his yard or spending an afternoon at the horse racing track. Known affectionately as a jokester throughout his life, Peter brought laughter wherever he went, a quality that endeared him to all who knew him.

Peter D. Foy Sr.'s legacy lives on through the family he cherished so deeply and the countless lives he touched through kindness, leadership, humor—and always with a twinkle in his eye. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on January 28, 2026, at 01:00 PM at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church 5 SE 17 Street, Ocala, Florida.
