Petra Maria Ruiz, born June 5 ^th 1924 in Venezuela, was called to Heaven on July 2 ^nd 2019, surrounded by her family at home in Winter Park, Florida. Petra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was devoted to her family and her faith, exemplifying Jesus' teachings of love and giving of herself to others. Petra was an elegant presence with a friendly smile and greeting to all. Language was never a barrier to her as her heartfelt smile and cheerful disposition was always clearly understood. She loved cooking and was supremely talented in the garden, growing luscious plants from clippings that caught her eye. Petra has been described as fearless and courageous while also staying humble as a servant of God.

She is survived by her daughter Cecilia Pirela and husband Robert, daughter in law Gladys de Montero widow of son Luis Montero, sister Aura Ruiz,  granddaughter Alicia De Armas and husband Edoardo De Armas, granddaughter Elizabeth Heaslet and husband Joseph, grandson Alexander Pirela, great-grandson Luis David Morillo and his father Wilfredo Morillo, and great-granddaughter Rhianna Heaslet.
