Philip
Bellico
August 27, 1939 – February 5, 2022
Philip P. Bellico, age 82, passed away at home on February 5, 2022, in the care of his wife of 60 and a half years. Phil was born in Springfield, MA to parents Sadie (Cannone) and Philip J. Bellico, both deceased. Phil grew up in Enfield, CT, married and raised his family there. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sandy); children Cynthia Bellico, Michael Bellico and Theresa Dumesnil (deceased); 6 grandchildren – Jessica (Brandon) Knight, Daniel (Jacque) Gillis, Michael (Maddie) Bellico, Jr., Nicholas (Michelle) Bellico, Andrew Dumesnil and Alex Dumesnil; 4 great grandchildren – Daniel Gillis, Jr., Benjamin Gillis, Lucas Knight and Olivia Knight; his sister Carol (Tom) Bednarz and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Phil graduated from Cathedral High School and Cheney Tech for machining. Phil was a skilled machinist and worked at Hamilton Standard, a division of United Technologies in Windsor Locks, CT for 35 years. He rose from being a machinist to a supervisor. This job required very close tolerances and he never would accept "close enough". He also was a union member and there again rose to the top position of local president and the district president. One of his greatest accomplishments was when he was able to get women the same pay as men for the same job performance. He cared how people were treated and fought for each individual. Phil retired from work at the age of 55 and soon after he made the decision to relocate to Ormond Beach, FL. Phil took on the job of the president of the homeowners' association. He took pride in maintaining the neighborhood.
As a young father, Phil was involved in coaching little league baseball and midget league football with his son Michael. Phil was a football and NASCAR fan. When we moved to Florida, he got a job at the Daytona speedway as security for the infield garage. There he met all the drivers and their crews.
Phil and his wife Sandy are members of St. James Episcopal Church and served the church in several capacities. Phil was devoted to his wife and family. You never saw Phil without his beloved wife by his side.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 26, 2022, at 11:00 am with interment immediately following at:
St. James Episcopal Church
