IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis
Johnson
June 2, 1939 – September 25, 2022
Ocala, Florida – Phyllis "Marie" Johnson, beloved wife of Wayne Johnson, passed away on September 25th, 2022, at the age of 83. Marie and Wayne were wed on September 14, 1957, on his birthday. The family later moved to Orr's Island Maine. Marie worked for Eaton Shoe Company and L.L. Bean stitching shoes and boots. After raising six daughters, she opened her own home day care. Later, she and her husband retired to On Top of The World Community, Ocala, Florida.
Her busy retirement centered on making home a brighter place through her gift of home decorating projects. Her craft-making skills included greeting card creation and costume design for special events. She won many awards for the costume creations. Marie especially enjoyed her community events dancing every Friday night, playing Bingo, and joining the Red Hatters. She was passionate about shopping for clothes and always kept a stylish appearance.
Marie was predeceased by parents Elizabeth "Mary" and Charles Fickett, her brothers Karl Fickett and Clarence Fickett, her sister Evelyn Fickett, and daughter Susan Johnson Grenier.
Marie is survived by her loving husband Wayne Johnson of 65 years, who stayed by her side throughout her illness. Daughters Tania Smith, Sonya Johnson, Cindy Johnson, Shelley Johnson, Karen Burgess, and her son-in-law David Burgess will miss her laughter. Her brother Charles Fickett, sisters Betty Pratt and Priscilla Brown will miss her beautiful smile. There are 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren to carry her memory. She will be laid to rest in Cotton Cemetery, Richmond, Maine in the spring.
In place of sending flowers the family requests individual donations to dementia research via act.alz.org as a Tribute Gift in her memory.
