Obituary

Polly Tompsett Walsh passed away on May 6, 2026 in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; she was seventy-three years old. Born to the late Ralph R. Tompsett and Jean MacEwen Tompsett both of Dallas, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael J. Walsh of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Quincy, Massachusetts. Polly is survived by her sister Joan E. Johnson of San Raphael, California; her brother William C. Tompsett (Christine) of Chicago, Illinois; her sister Selene T. Lehmann (Stephen) of Lowell, Massachusetts; her sister-in-law Cheryl M. Walsh (Mike Cabral) of Quincy, Massachusetts; and sister-in-law Marguerite “Peggy” R. Sacramona of Kingston, Massachusetts. She was a dedicated and loving aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She enjoyed them all and was attentive to their individual interests.

Born in 1953 in New York, New York, she grew up in Dallas, Texas where she graduated from Hillcrest High School. For many years, she loved working at the Preston Hollow Glen Oaks horse stable. She recently took up dressage training and loved riding again.

Polly graduated from Connecticut College with a degree in Art in 1974 and earned a degree from the New England School of Photography in Boston.

She and Michael bred and showed dogs actively for years; many of their dogs were awarded championships, starting with her Beagle, Little Dee of the Little Dee Kennel. They showed around the country, including at the Westminster Kennel Club in New York City. As was the case in anything Polly participated in, she made many good friends while showing her dogs. She was a member of kennel clubs in Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Most recently, she and her Smooth Collie, Treasure, participated in FastCat competition, winning many ribbons.

Contributions can be made in memory of Polly T. Walsh to the American Kennel Club at www.akc.org/donate (AKC Humane Fund.) A private service will be planned for family.
