Ray Lowry's Obituary

Ray Dolph Lowry                                             9/3/1928 – 3/30/2019

Ray Dolph Lowry of New Smryna Beach, Florida went home to be with Jesus on March 30, 2019 at Halifax Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, FL.  Ray joins those who went before him:  his parents, sister and brother-in-law, and son.  Ray is survived by his loving wife of over seventy years, "Sweet Jaquita" Nell Lowry, daughter, Linda Sue, son, Roger (Allison), grandson Michael (Leslie), and great-grandson, David.

Born in Louisiana, raised in East Texas, Ray graduated from what is now University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in electrical engineering. He served in the Army for four years.  Ray went to work for IBM, which took him from Texas to California to Georgia, and finally to Florida in 1969.  He retired from IBM after twenty-seven years of dedicated service and went on to start two small businesses before slowing down.

Ray enjoyed fishing and boats all his life.  He developed an interest in sundials, even designing his own.  He combed flea markets looking for anniversary clocks to repair and collect, and something for Nell.  Ray loved gospel music spending hours listening to the Gaither Gospel Band.  He and Nell enjoyed traveling all over the US, and in Europe. After moving to New Smyrna Beach in 1989, Ray enjoyed daily walks on the beach.

Ray will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, and his keen sense of humor.  A memorial service is to be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, FL.

As he would say, "See ya later, alligator".
