Raymond Charles Navitsky Jr. (88), and Barbara Ann Navitsky (85), devoted husband and wife for 67 years, passed away just days apart. Barbara passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospice House, followed by Raymond on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at his daughter Karen’s home, as he had requested. Their passing so close together reflects the depth of the bond they shared.
Both were born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where their story began. They married in February 1959, beginning a partnership marked by dedication, adventure, and unwavering support for one another.
Following his service in the United States Army, Raymond continued his commitment to public service as a police officer. He later concluded his professional career as an Executive Director within the Chamber of Commerce. Throughout their lives together, Barbara devoted herself to her family while also building a career in newspaper advertising and marketing. She also owned and operated a ladies boutique.
They kept God at the center of their lives. They were active members of First Baptist Church of Stuart, First Baptist Church of Destin, First Baptist Church of The Villages, and Immanuel Baptist Church, where they sang together in the choir. Raymond also shared his love of music, singing bass in gospel quartets. They enjoyed traveling together throughout their lives. Raymond spent many happy hours on golf courses, while Barbara enjoyed ceramics and scrapbooking.
Barbara and Raymond are survived by their son, Raymond Charles Navitsky, III (Lisa), and their daughter, Karen Navitsky Brake (James); their grandchildren, Beth Palmer, Christin Johnson (Luke), and Zachary Navitsky (Emily); and their great grandchildren, Morgan and Jordan Palmer; Raymond’s brother, V. James Navitsky of Rio, Florida; and Barbara’s sisters, Edith Overholser (Fred), and Marianne Rudisill.
Raymond and Barbara will be remembered for their faith, their friendships, their love of family, and the joy they brought into so many lives.
Together 67 years on earth, reunited in heaven after just 67 hours.
A Celebration of Life and Love will be held at 2:30 pm on March 14, 2026 at Mulberry Grove Recreation Center, 8445 SE 165th Mulberry Lane, The Villages, Florida
