Raymond Philip Chabot
On Sunday evening, July 31 st , 2022, Raymond passed away at his home in Clermont, Florida at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maureen (Kelley) Chabot, son John and his wife Kathy McBride of Arvada, CO, daughter Michelle and her partner Thomas Zussa of Clermont, FL, his sister Theresa Gendron of Grafton, MA, brother Paul Chabot of Gloucester, MA and sister-in-law, Elaine Lewin, brother-in-law William Kelley of Worcester, MA and many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Millbury, MA, son of Laurey and Bertha (Cote) Chabot on March 15, 1937. Raymond attended Assumption School in Millbury and then when to Mount St. Charles in Rhode Island for High School. While at the Mount he was an All-star running back, winning many games for the school. After High School he enlisted in the US Navy serving aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt with tours of duty in Morocco and Argentia, Newfoundland. Upon honorable discharge, he attended Bryant College, RI, eventually leaving to join the family business, Chabot Motors, which his father founded in 1937. Raymond worked in every aspect of the business, from service dept., parts, and car sales selling Chrysler, Dodge, Toyota, MG, Triumph, and Jaguar. Ray retired after forty-five years with many loyal customers who always returned to purchase a car because of his kindness. His greatest joy in retirement was when he made a hole in one at Kings' Ridge golf course.
The Celebration of his Life will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM, with a Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 720 12th St, Clermont, FL 34711. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513 at 2:00 PM. A gathering of family and friends will take place following at King's Ridge Clubhouse. Donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA.
