Raymond “Scott” King, 78, of The Villages in Florida, passed away suddenly on February 8, 2026. Scott was born on September 7, 1947, in Madisonville, Kentucky, and was a former resident of Shelton, Connecticut.
Scott graduated from Old Lyme High School. Scott earned an Associate degree in Physical Education at Dean Junior College, Bachelor of Arts with a Concentration in European History at The Ohio State University, Master of Science in Counseling at Troy University, and a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of New Haven.
Scott served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Virginia and Bitburg, Germany. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career that spanned several industries. He worked in computer operations management at Chesebrough-Ponds, as a project manager at Elizabeth Arden, a consultant at Coopers & Lybrand, in information technology at Iroquois, and in engineering at United Illuminating.
Scott was an all-star athlete in baseball, basketball, and soccer in high school. Scott played soccer at The Ohio State University and continued playing later into his adulthood. Scott enjoyed golfing, cycling, and traveling. He played competitive senior softball in The Villages. He was a devoted fan of college sports, in particular UConn Men’s basketball and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Go Bucks! A man of many talents and interests, Scott had a brilliant mind paired with a great sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife Coralie King; his three siblings John (Jody), JoAnn (Charles), and Andy (Kathy); his five children Cathy (Derek), Jeff (Carrie), Jen (Justin), Meredith (Randy), and Ryan (Vicky); nine grandchildren Peter (Liya), Ben, Joshua, Megan, Peyton, Avery, Jaxon, Lana, and Stella; one great-grandchild Mabel; and first wife Paula King. He was predeceased by his parents, George F. King and Marion Doris King.
Scott’s legacy is one of love for family and friends combined with an unwavering curiosity for learning and an enthusiasm for life’s adventures. “A life well lived, a love well loved.”
A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
