IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond K.
Skelton
April 1, 1935 – March 4, 2026
Raymond Skelton, 90, of Put-in-Bay, Ohio and central Florida passed away March 4, 2026. He was born April 1, 1935 the son of Melvin and Margaret Skelton. Ray met Shirley Rudy on South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay, Ohio) and they married in 1957. He graduated from General Motors Institute as a Mechanical Engineer and worked for General Motors Fisher Body, retiring from the Columbus facility.
In his youth, he was the proud owner of the “Wreckless” sailboat. He sailed Lake Erie with friends that he kept for a lifetime. He loved hockey, bridge and golf. Ray was a well sought team member in each of those activities.
He was always a thorough person, never quitting when he pursued a goal—whether it was improving his health, golf league spreadsheets or home improvement activities.
A resident of Put-in-Bay and central Florida for his later years, Ray was an avid walker, taking a two mile walk in the morning and another in the afternoon throughout his retirement years. Whenever he greeted you on those walks at Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club or on the streets of Put-in-Bay, he would always smile and say “It is a beautiful day at the bay!”
Surviving are his children Cynthia (Kevin Becker) Skelton-Becker, Ty (Irma Garcia) Skelton, Patricia (Norm Phillibert) Skelton; grandchildren Brittany Skelton, Zachary Skelton, Rachel LeClair, Zoe Becker and Albert Becker and their families; sisters Barbara (late Reno) Lamanna, Merry (late Richard) Sherman; nieces Elizabeth Pinto, Maria Lamanna and their families; and nephews James Rudy and Stephen Rudy.
Service will be conducted at Put-in-Bay, Ohio at a later date. Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449. Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.
