Retta Fay
Kaster
June 5, 1924 – February 3, 2021
Retta Fay Kaster (Boatman), 96, passed away February 3 rd , 2021. She was born June 5 th , 1924, to Andrew and Fluretta Boatman, in N. Little Rock, Arkansas, one of 10 children.
As a Navy Veteran, she served as a communication's specialist during WWII, where she met and married her husband Phillip. They were married for 60 years until his death in 2006.
She and her partner were the first female Summit County Akron Ohio Deputy Sheriff's. They escorted and were security for many Soap Box Derby dignitaries and t.v. stars during the 1960's.
She and Phillip retired in the 1970's to Hot Springs, Arkansas, and later to Kansas City, Missouri. She has been a resident of Fort Myers, Florida since 2009.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip, parents, 7 siblings, and step-son, Jerry Kaster.
She is survived by her son, Phillip (Carolyn) Kaster of Canal Fulton, Ohio; daughter, Judy Kaster of Kansas City, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Brad, Damita, Abby, Lori and Candace; 6 great-grandchildren; daughter in law, Alyce; sister, Carrie; brother, Bob and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned sometime in June. She will rest beside her husband, Phillip, in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
