IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Anderson
May 25, 1945 – February 24, 2023
Richard Anderson is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter Marites, his sister Linda, sisters in law Donna and Joyce, step daughter Claudine, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on March 25th, 1945 in Jacksonville, FL. He attended and received a full football scholarship from Miami University. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was sent to Vietnam along with his best friend, John, who also enlisted with him. As platoon leader, he lost 37 of his men, along with John, who died alongside of Richard in the trenches. Three men survived the battle. For this reason, Richard could never look at the Wall of Vietnam Soldiers, as many of the soldiers were in his battalion. This was a gut wrenching experience which he relived in his nightmares for the rest of his life.
Richard spent most of his career on the road traveling through the southern states as a Architectural Moulding salesperson. He is a lifelong "Floridian". He knew all the locations of "Dairy Queen", which, as all you know, was his favorite refreshment stop. He was an ice cream "fanatic". He always brought an ice cream cake when visiting family and friends to ensure he would have an ice cream treat with his loved ones.
Please remember his motto: there is no time to cry, don't shed a tear, I am with the Lord, I kept the faith, I am at peace now, my spirit will always be with you, I fought the good fight in Vietnam and in life.
In lieu of sending flowers, if you are able, please make a donation to the Parkinson's Foundation.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Church On Saturday, June 3rd at 11:00 am. 720 12th St, Clermont, FL 34711
