Obituary

                                        Richard F. Dixon, March 28, 1946 – May 19, 2026

Richard F. Dixon, aged 80 of Lady Lake, Florida, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has finally wrapped up his earthly journey, leaving us all a little less witty and a lot more wistful. Born on March 28, 1946, in the bustling metropolis of Cedar Rapids, Rick took his final bow on May 19, 2026, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Though he may have left the course, his legacy continues to play through us all.

Rick was never one to settle for par in life. He drove forward as the President of The Dixon Group in Norfolk, Virginia, before launching Dixon Partners in Tampa, Florida. Not content with just one success, Rick founded several other companies, earning him the title of serial entrepreneur. His business acumen was recognized with a ranking in the Inc. 500 for fastest-growing privately held businesses, making him a household name—at least in entrepreneurial households.

When Rick wasn't conquering the business world, he could be found teeing off at Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake and other top-ranked golf courses around the world. An FAA-certified pilot, he frequently soared above life's challenges with grace and style. He also enjoyed cheering for his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes with the Tampa Bay Iowa Club.

Rick's leadership extended beyond the boardroom. He served as President of the American Ad Federation, became Governor of the 3rd District, and even chaired the XXX International Azalea Festival. Rumor has it he could out-charm an entire azalea garden.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Everett and Maxine Dixon, his sister Mary Lee Dixon Flynn, and wife Suzy Adams Dixon. The world is certainly quieter without their combined brilliance.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife Nancy Grider Dixon, his brother Chris and sister-in-law Gail Dixon, his nephew Matt and niece-in-law Liz Dixon, his children Dr. Mark Dixon and Jennifer Dixon, Lauren and Travis Irvin, Elizabeth Dixon, step-sons Gordon Parker, Jr., Scott Adams and stepdaughter Chandler Schaeffer. His brother-in-law, Tom Flynn, also shares in this great loss.

Rick was not only an avid golfer but also a voracious reader and a valuable friend to many. His infectious wit, smile, and laugh made everyone feel instantly at home, and his absence leaves a void larger than a missed putt on the 18th hole. Rick was the light of his family and friends' lives, illuminating every gathering with his warmth and humor.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall at Harbor Hills Country Club, Lady Lake, Florida, where stories will be swapped, laughter will echo, and perhaps a few golf balls will find their way into the water hazard—just the way Rick would have wanted.

While Rick may have taken his final flight, his spirit remains airborne in our hearts. Fairways and skies forever, dear Rick—you'll be missed terribly and remembered always.
