Richard Carl Hacker passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the Estero, Florida home of his daughter Renee and son-in-law Jack Akova. He was born on August 28, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hilda Hacker; his sister, Elsie Hacker; and close friend and brother-in-law Tony Luzin. He served his country with distinction, receiving an honorable discharge following four years of military service, concluding in September 1964.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marie P. Hacker; his son Richard and wife Connie; his daughter Renee and son-in-law Jack Akova; grandchildren Richard M. Hacker and wife Hillary, Nicholaus Hacker, Elizabeth Biggam, and Macy Biggam; brothers Herman B. Hacker and wife Maude, and Stephen O. Hacker and wife Martha; close friend and sister-in-law FJ Luzin; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Richard lived life with an infectious joy and an unshakeable belief that fun was something to be shared. Whether coaching baseball, hockey, or swimming, he always led with the same message — it's about enjoying the game and playing as a team. He loved hitting the golf course with his brothers, nephews, and children, and remained a devoted swimmer throughout his life. Richard never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their events, and he took genuine delight in hearing about the everyday moments that filled their lives.

A natural leader and man of deep faith, Richard devoted many years to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lake Zurich, Illinois, serving faithfully as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and church elder.

Richard will be forever missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

No formal services will be held. Family and friends are warmly invited to honor Richard's memory in whatever way feels most meaningful to them.
