IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Mcgary
January 10, 1931 – July 25, 2023
Richard G. McGary, 92, peacefully passed away on July 25, 2023 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend. Throughout his life, he impacted the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.
Dick was born on January 10, 1931, in Madison, WI, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Lester M. McGary. He attended Sewanee Military Academy and graduated from Marquette Dental School in 1957. Shortly thereafter he met the love of his life Mary Goebel. They married and moved to Roswell, NM where Dr. McGary served as a Captain with the U.S. Air Force. Upon completion of his service, he returned to Madison, WI to establish his dental practice. He dedicated nearly 40 years to his practice touching the lives of the many patients he cared for.
He was an active member in the Greater Dane Dental Society, President of the American Academy of General Dentistry (AAGP) for Wisconsin, guest lecturer for UW Medical School, and a dental consultant and board member for three insurance companies. Dick also dedicated his time to Kiwanis Club and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison, WI.
He will be remembered for his love for his family and his unwavering support. Dick enjoyed spending his summers in Door County, WI and winters in Fort Myers, FL. He had a passion and gift for gardening, which he enthusiastically shared with others. His spirit lives on in the many yards and community spaces (particularly Door County, WI and Madison, WI) where he grew, planted, and shared numerous flowers with friends and family.
Dick was preceded in death by his loving spouse Mary and is survived by daughter Susan Buse' (Donald) of Estero, FL; daughter Victoria Jaeger (Todd) of Ft. Myers, FL; son Dr. Eric McGary of Pasadena, CA; and six grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Baldwin Brothers, Fort Myers is entrusted with final care.
