Richard "Quisty"
Quist
May 1, 1954 — Oct 27, 2026
Fort Myers, FL
Richard “Quisty” Quist, 72, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2026. Born to Andrew and Grace (Clouart) Quist, Richard grew up in West Boylston, Massachusetts.
Rich was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Frederick, Kenneth, William, and Frances. He leaves behind his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as a great group of friends—because to Rich, if you were his friend, you were family, plain and simple. Above all else, he had a deep love for his family and cherished every moment shared with them.
For 20 years, Rich worked as a correctional officer with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department. After retiring in 2009, he started his next journey down to sunny Florida to enjoy a well-earned retirement in the warmth and sunshine—and, of course, to be right in the heart of Red Sox Spring Training. In his earlier years, Rich was a star basketball player at David Prouty High School, and he maintained a lifelong passion for sports of all kinds—with a special place in his heart for Boston teams.
Known to many as “Quisty” or “The Nail,” Rich truly appreciated the simple pleasures in life and treasured good times spent surrounded by the people he loved. A master storyteller, he loved sharing tales from his life experiences and had a legendary way of bringing those memories to life for anyone listening. Rich was also a dedicated supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Cello, who was his constant, faithful companion and held a truly special place in his heart.
Richard will be remembered for his deep love of family, his fierce loyalty, his passion for sports, and his unforgettable storytelling.
May he rest in peace, with a cold beer in hand and a Boston game on in the background.
