Richard "Rich" Leonard Phillip Sr., of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 at the age of 88 years old in the comfort of his home and with his family by his side.
Born on December 12th, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rich lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying that sense of honor and pride with him throughout his life.
Rich's journey is one of both grit and adventure. From his early years in Philadelphia to his time overseas in service, and later across the country in California. He ultimately made his home in Daytona Beach, Florida. Wherever there was an ocean, Rich found peace, joy and a sense of belonging.

He led by example, showing what it meant to work hard, stand strong, and love deeply. To his family, he was larger than life; a man whose impact cannot be measured by titles or accomplishments alone, but by the countless ways he showed up, gave, and cared.
Richa also had a rare gift: he never met a stranger. His wit, charm, and unmistakable personality left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. whether a lifelong friend or someone he had just met, he had a way of making people feel seen and remembered. His presence was felt everywhere he went, and his absence will be felt just as deeply.
Rich was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki "Suzy" Lynn Phillip; his children, Heather Lin (Bill) Kuhn, Richard Joseph (Angela) Phillip, Kacey Dawn Criddle, and Bryan Bailey Eugene (Kelsey) Criddle; his grandchildren, Taylor Kuhn, Kaitlyn Kuhn, Corbin Kuhn, and Ethan Kuhn, and Caterina Phillip; and his siblings, Victor and Elaine.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Leonard Phillip; his father, Quinto Phillip; his mother, Anna Phillip (D'Annunzio); and his sisters, Angelina and Theresa.
Rich lived a life he was deeply proud of, one built through perseverance, shaped by service, and centered around his family. He was proud to have served his country, and even more proud of the life he created for those he loved. His family is endlessly proud of him.
His legacy lives on in the strength he instilled, the love he gave, and the unforgettable mark he left on every life he touched. He will be deeply missed, forever admired, and always remembered as our beloved hero.
