Obituary

Richard Roderick died peacefully the morning of 04/12/2026 at home in DeLand Florida. He lived life on his terms. He was a veteran and proudly served his country in France and then in the reserves. He was a great Gardner and enjoyed tending his plants even in the end on his patio. He enjoyed tennis in his younger years and singing in choirs at church and the community. His jobs took him from St Louis Mo to Baton Rouge and then back to St Louis as a tax accountant before moving to Florida to be with his wife’s Betty’s family. Betty and Richard were married for 53 years before her passing in 2021.He was an active volunteer for the National Kidney foundation and loved to read. He had an amazing collection of books.

Richard was born in St Louis. MO on July 23rd, 1941, along with his fraternal twin brother, Robert. Parents Grace Jeanette Lowenhaupt and “Bob” Roderick who predeceased him. He went to St Louis public schools and obtained an associate degree. They had one daughter, Sara Emily who died in 2011. His brother Robert died in 2012.

He is survived by his First cousin Stephanie Lowenhaupt, nephew Daniel Roderick and sister-in-law Linda Herron. Also, his dear friend Marthe Battles of Saint Eugene D'Argentenay, Province Quebec, Canada.
