Richard J. Rose passed away peacefully Sunday morning on April 19, 2026. He was born in Minneapolis MN on November 29, 1940, to Eleanor E. (Spaeth) Rose and Frank J. Rose. He was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and the University of Wisconsin - Menominee where he met and married Linda M. (French) Rose.
Richard was a career United States Air Force officer who retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as well as a second career retiring from General Electric Jet Engine Program as a program manager for both the B-1 and B-2 bombers. He was "seriously" retired in January of 2001. He and Linda moved to Ocala, Florida to a retirement community that had an AMA- RC flying field where he continued to enjoy his hobby of building and flying model planes.
He is survived by his widow Linda M. Rose, son Richard J. Rose Jr. & daughter-in-law Ada Rose, daughter Kristin L. (Rose) Newswanger & son-in-law Brad Newswanger. He was preceded in death by his parents Eleanor & Frank Rose and two brothers, Leroy H. Rose & James Rose.
Richard will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with full military honors on June 15, 2026 at 11:30 A.M.
