On October 4, 2021, Richard Alan Schaufert (Al) passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Cape Coral FL at the age of 77.  Born in Maryland, he moved to a rural area of York County PA at the age of 31, where he and Mary built a home and raised their sons.  After 30 happy years and with the boys being grown, Al decided he had shoveled enough snow and retired from Domino Sugar and moved to Cape Coral FL.  He very much enjoyed the warmer climate, year round pool and maintaining a large garden he had built.

Al loved his basement workshop in PA, spending time on fixing, building and refinishing furniture.  While he did not miss the cold of PA, he did miss his workshop.  He continued to do smaller projects after moving to Florida.

Al was also an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed cheering them on from the comfort of his favorite recliner. Football season was his favorite time of year.

Al is survived by his wife, Mary, and his much loved sons, Jeffrey and Ryan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
