Richard "Dick" Morris Shore, 82, of Casselberry, FL, passed away peacefully, on March 6, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

Richard was born on April 6, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He would spend his summers at his uncle Harry and aunt Mary's beach house in Atlantic City, where he would swim all day with his cousin, Charles Karr. Richard lived in Philadelphia until he joined the United States Navy in 1957. He would serve his country for 20 years, earning the Armed Services Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Richard met the love of his life, Karen (née Larson), on New Years Eve 1961 in Chicago. They married in October of 1963 before being deployed to USNS Sangley Point in the Philippines in 1964. There, they would have the first of five sons. Richard went on to four more Naval assignments back in the U.S. where a son was born at each stop; NRC Milwaukee in 1967, NRC Philadelphia in 1969, NAS Albany, GA in 1971 and NTC Orlando in 1975. Richard retired from the Navy in 1976 as Chief Petty Officer. After moving to Chicago, the family finally relocated to Casselberry in 1986.

After the Navy, Richard went on to work mostly in the car business, where he made many lifelong friends. One of the many things he enjoyed doing was meeting his friends or children at Starbucks. They could drive by on any given day to see if his car was parked outside and then join him for a cup and to people watch. He knew many of the regulars and staff. Richard loved the ocean and, even though retired from the Navy, he and Karen enjoyed more than 30 cruises. It was on a Caribbean cruise in 1998 where they met a couple from England, Tony and Joyce, in which an instant friendship was formed. The two couples would remain close friends, as if they were family, visiting each other back and forth across the pond and on many more ocean cruises.

However, the most joy Richard had was being with his family. He was the central figure at every function, either cracking jokes or telling stories about his Navy days. The grandchildren all had a special place in "Pop's" heart and he had so much fun with them. He had so many sayings and phrases, the kids called them popisms. As they got older, he taught them to drive, just as he did with his five sons, in an empty parking lot at school or the mall.

Richard is predeceased by his mother Helen and sister Gloria. He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Karen and their five sons, Steven (Heidi), Hal, Brian, Gregg (Laura) and Matthew (Jonelle). Richard's grandchildren are Kimberly, Kyle, Trevor, Carter, Casey, Carson, Connor and Collin and his great-grandchildren are Haley and Amber.

A Celebration of Life will be held at VFW Post 5405 on Friday April 14, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 420 N. Edgemon Ave, Winter Springs, FL 32708.

Inurnment will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. at 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754.

Reception will follow back at VFW Post 5405 in Winter Springs at 4:30 p.m.
