Obituary

Richard R. Sidman, 86, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on January 11, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richard lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen L. Sidman (Mask); his children, Richard R. Sidman Jr., Linda J. DeSimone (Sidman), Robert M. Sidman, and Robert Charles "Chuck" Bicht; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who cherished their husband, father, uncle, and "Pop-Pop".

Richard spent most of his career with Pennsylvania Fine Wine & Good Spirits, serving as Store Manager in Montgomeryville and later Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. After a successful career spanning many years, he retired in 2002 and relocated with Ellen to Port Charlotte, where they enjoyed more than two decades of retirement together.

Outside of work, Richard's greatest passion was saltwater fishing. He developed a love for the sport as a young man, fishing alongside his father, Benjamin Sidman, and his brother Raymond in Ocean City, New Jersey. Drawn by the warm waters and abundant fishing opportunities of Florida's Gulf Coast, Richard spent countless hours pursuing the pastime he loved most.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Bertha Sidman; his brothers, Jack Sidman and Raymond Sidman; and his sister, Norma Myers.

Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to family, and the kindness and generosity he showed to everyone he met. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at noon on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Morgandale Condominium Association Clubhouse in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida or Cure Sanfilippo Foundation.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who offered support, care, and friendship throughout Richard's life and during his final days.

Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
