Richard Joseph Sienkiewicz, 84, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2026.

Richard was born on October 12, 1941, in Orange, New Jersey, where he lived until the age of 10. At that time, his father purchased a dairy farm in Gilbertsville, New York, and the family moved there. It was on the farm and in the Gilbertsville community that Richard spent his formative years and graduated from high school. It was also there that he met the love of his life, Katherine, beginning a partnership that would span 61 years.

After college, Richard and Katherine were married. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army, where he became a helicopter pilot and served in Vietnam. He dedicated 20 years to his military career with the Army Corps of Engineers before retiring from the service.

Never one to sit still for long, Richard began a second career with General Dynamics, where he worked for another 20 years. His commitment, discipline, and strong work ethic were hallmarks of both his military and professional careers.

Following his retirement, Richard and Katherine moved to Florida, where they enjoyed a new chapter of life together. They traveled, made lasting memories, and, most importantly, cherished time with their children and grandchildren.

Richard will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his hardworking spirit, and the many years of love and companionship he shared with Katherine. His life was one of service, commitment, adventure, and family, and his memory will live on in all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine; their children and grandchildren; and many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on October 14th, 2026 at St. Edward's Episcopal Church, 460 N Grandview Street, Mt. Dora, FL 32757 with reception to follow in parish hall.
