Obituary

Richard Earle Spensley, 76, passed away peacefully March 27, 2017 in Florida.  Richard was born January 29, 1941 to the late Earle and Pearl Spensley.

After high school at Berne-Knox Central he joined the Marine Corps and proudly served our country from 1959 to 1964.

Dick was an avid reader, but his first love was music. He taught classical guitar and started a band with his best friends Reid and Bobbie Northrup.  They called themselves The New Arkansas Travelers.   They made a record that he helped arrange and wrote songs for.  They briefly went on tour and then played many Honkey Tonks in the Tri-City area.

Dick worked as an electronics technician until an early retirement due to a hang gliding accident.

In recent years, in spite of his paralysis,  Dick volunteered at the Edgewater Public Library, FL.

He leaves behind his wife Margaret(Midge) Northrup of over 30 years and his daughter DiDi  Spears, his son in-law Tim, and his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Play an Emmylou Harris song and think of Dick.
