Robert (Bob) George Austin Jr. of Englewood, Florida passed away on February 19, 2026.

Bob was born on July 8, 1943 to the late Robert and C. Margaret (Simmonds) Austin in Brattleboro, VT.

He is survived by his wife Jean Austin of 23 years and his son’s Scott Austin (Jodi) and Todd (Gina). He is also survived by his brother Lyle Austin (Connie ) and sisters Phyllis Graham and Gail Petruska (Michael ). Additionally, he leaves his grandchildren Michael, Benjamin, Abigail, Gabby and Maxwell.

Bob loved his country and was proud of his service in the United States Army and spent many of his days based in Okinawa in the late 1960s. He also enjoyed his time tinkering with his projects that he loved like his 1957 Chevy and Swift airplane. But most of all, he enjoyed his time with family whether it was always being present at his son’s youth activities or more recently, time playing golf and poker with his brother and their wives.

On December 1, 1961 Bob was married to Jeannette Vaughn Plante who predeceased him in 1998.

He was known was many names: Robert, Bobby, Bob, Dad and Believer and can now be found chirping at a poker table in Heaven.
