Obituary

Robert Ayers, 88, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, after a life richly lived and deeply loved.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to Edna and Harold Ayers, Robert carried the values of his upbringing with him throughout his life. He previously resided in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Yardley, Pennsylvania, where he built a legacy of integrity, warmth, and wisdom.

A proud Air Force veteran, Robert pursued higher education at Rutgers University and graduated from Rider University. He built a successful career in the insurance industry and was a robust entrepreneur, always seeking new challenges and opportunities. A lifelong learner and natural coach, Robert inspired those around him with his curiosity, generosity, and unwavering encouragement.

His passion for fly fishing—especially for salmon and steelhead—was more than a hobby; it was a calling. As a skilled guide, he shared his love of the water and the art of the cast with countless others, creating memories that will ripple through generations.

Robert was known for his incredible sense of humor and his ability to light up any room with a smile. He was well loved by all who knew him, and his presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and James Ayers. He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen; his loving children, Allison (Thomas) Herendeen and Michael (Laura) Ayers; his cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Johanna) Ayers and Samantha (Kelby) Kindelsperger; and five adored great-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by many other family members and friends who hold a special place in their hearts for this remarkable man.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated health care professionals at the Veterans Administration and the exceptional team at Hope Hospice for their compassionate care.

Services will be private, in keeping with Robert's humble spirit. His legacy lives on in the laughter he sparked, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
