Robert James Bethman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Born June 28, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Bob lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
His greatest pride was his marriage of 65 years to his cherished wife, Gloria. Together, they built a life filled with joy and raised a loving family. Bob is survived by his daughter Yvonne (and husband Robb Miller) and his son, Douglas (and wife Karen Bethman); seven grandchildren, Janelle, Vanessa, Hannah, Andrew, Erik, Troy, Cole and five great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents Frederick and Wilma Bethman, his brother Frederick Bethman Jr and his daughter Diane.
Bob's professional life was marked by success and skill. He enjoyed a distinguished career in the bread business and later with Federal Express, where his expertise as a negotiator was highly valued. He was known for his friendly, generous, and caring nature, possessing a remarkable charisma that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a devoted member of the Oxford Assembly of God Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and shaping his compassionate spirit.
Bob will be deeply missed for his warm heart, infectious laugh, and the enduring legacy of love he leaves behind. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for the kindness and generosity he extended to everyone he encountered.
A service is scheduled for June 4, 2025, 11 AM at Oxford Assembly of God Church, 12114 N Us Highway 301, Oxford, FL 34484.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Missions Department, Oxford Assembly of God Church.
