Obituary

Robert “Bob” L. Roberts, age 79, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Plaistow, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born on June 8, 1946. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Ann Roberts of Maine, and his sister, Shirl Prescott of North Carolina.

He is survived by his beloved partner, Ursula Distefano of The Villages, Florida; his daughters, Yolanda Hammond of New Hampshire, and Maria Rogers and her husband Jason Rogers of Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Briana Hammond of Connecticut, and Solana, Christopher, and Trey Rogers, all of Florida; and a brother, Brett Roberts of Maine.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed in Rota, Spain. Following his military service, he dedicated 26 years of his career to Lucent Technologies, where he worked as a mechanical assistant engineer and received numerous achievement and performance awards in recognition of his hard work and commitment.

In his earlier years, Bob enjoyed spending time with family at their property in Maine, where he shared a love of fishing and hunting with his father. After retiring to Florida, he embraced life in The Villages, where he found joy in golfing, cooking, and gardening. He was especially proud of achieving two hole-in-ones during his golfing years.

Bob will be remembered for his generous spirit and the joy he found in helping friends and neighbors. He truly valued the community he built in The Villages and the many friendships he cherished there.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Bob’s memory.
