Obituary

Robert "Bob" Alvin Wall of Hernando, Florida passed away on May 2, 2026 at the age of 87. Bob was born July 12, 1938 in Fall River, Massachusetts. He was one of six children. Bob was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and good friend to all. Bob had two children Robert Jr. and Liz. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, sister, Barbara, 4 step children, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Bob was also a proud Navy veteran of 22 years, retiring as a Chief in 1976, continuing to participate in and volunteer at events locally through the years for other Chief Petty Navy Officers in Florida.

Bob married the love of his life Shirley, 37 years ago, settling in Marshfield for the summers/Christmas, and Florida for the rest of the year - eventually moving to Florida full time. Their life together was full of adventure, travel, cooking, family, and true love. Their love was apparent to all and Bob was always trying to make Shirley smile. They took advantage of every moment together and built a beautiful life where family was always invited in for their home cooked meals, carefully planned trips, pool days, Florida visits, Christmas Eve's, and lots of hugs!

Bob aka "Papa" took pride in his grandchildren and often mentioned how lucky he felt to have been able to retire early, at the age of 50, to spend more time with his wife and grandkids. He often referenced those years as the best time of his life. He created traditions and built memories that will last a lifetime - teaching his grandchildren how to swim, taking them on road hipigoing to Die dishes, pao make deck, orest to Home Depo or erato a arties like grandkids wanted to be with Papa no matter what he was doing, he made life fun - and he always bought them whatever they wanted after.

Bob greeted everyone that walked into the room with a warm embrace - a big hug and a big shout of your name, whether you were his grandchild, stepchild, or the waiter at a restaurant he would frequent - he loved everyone and loved hearing about what was going on in everyone's lives. More importantly, he told you how much he loved you and how proud he was of you- always.

Bob was a true kid at heart - modeling a sense of adventure, authenticity, and curiosity for others and life in general that never wavered as he got older. In honor of Bob, do something that makes you feel young at heart again - ride the rollercoaster, take the trip, eat the ice cream, share a new experience with your own kids/grandkids - that is how Bob lived and wanted everyone around him to do the same. He leaves behind precious memories that will live on forever. The family will have a celebration of life back in Boston, Massachusetts later this summer.
