Robert Lee Braden was born September 21, 1934, to Brownie and Lucious Braden, both of whom have preceded him in death.

Robert was educated in the public schools of Nashville, Tennessee. After graduation, he continued his education at Tennessee State University, where he met and married Vera Ann Lee. Out of that union, three daughters were born. The family relocated to St. Augustine, Fla, in 1958, where he began his career at Excelsior Elementary and R. J. Murray High. While at Murray High, he formed the marching and concert bands. Under his direction, the band replicated the FAMU and BCU style of high-level performance, and the Murray High School Mighty Marching 100 was born. From 1970 -1975, he served in various positions at Murray 7th grade center, Webster 6th grade center, and Webster Elementary. From 1975- 1978 he served as assistant principal at Ketterlinus Jr. High and principal until 1985. In 1985, he served the next three years as administrative assistant to the superintendent of schools, later serving as head of Human Resources, responsible for all personnel affairs for the district until his retirement from the county. Robert ended his career with a ten-year professorship at Flagler College. Robert was also active in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Kiwanis International, and St. Johns County Credit Union.

Robert and Vera spent years traveling the globe. From cruising throughout the Caribbean, Virgin Islands, Central, and South America to spending time in Hawaii, and one of Vera's favorites, Paris, France. Family vacations included travel throughout Europe.

Robert leaves to mourn his transition, a devoted wife, Vera Ann, who was the love of his life, 3 daughters, Mikeeta Sheri Braden Davidson, Felicia Lynnette Braden (who preceded him in death), and LaRhonda Demetrius Braden Carter (Dini), a host of Grand and Great Grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law, Flora Mae Campbell (Edward), and their children, Dueil and Delbert Campbell.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.
