A Boy. A Girl. A Beach. and Baseball

All you ever need for a wonderful life.

Robert (Buzz) Buzzell had a wonderful life.

As he said shortly before he died on November 12, 2017 about himself and his beautiful wife of 60 years, Judy-  "We've been everywhere and done everything" "what more could you want?"

Buzz and Judy's beloved Red Sox won in 2004, 2007 and 2013. What more could you want?

But I'm skipping ahead, what about that beach?

Fresh out of the U.S. Army where he served in Korea in the late fifties, he and some buddies headed for a Connecticut Beach in Hammonasset one eventful day.

After approaching two girls on a beach blanket to ask if one of them would like to take a dip, Judy Smith accepted the challenge and did so for the next 60 years " what more could you want?"

Judy and Buzz raised their two children, Scott and Robin while he worked for Northeast/Delta airlines for the next 35 years, traveling everywhere free and in first class. Who needed road trips in the family car when you had access to a fleet of obliging aircraft? " what more could you want?"

Buzz was beloved by his vast circle of lifelong friends and extensive family including his six adoring grandchildren.

He and Judy lived an optimistic and charmed life and were truly blessed to have met on that beach more than 60 years ago. Buzz touched so many lives with his effervescent attitude and remained a kid at heart.

He will remain that little boy on the Bristol, Connecticut sandlot playing baseball until well after dusk defying his father yelling to him "Robert, please get in the car" over and over…  "what more could you want?"

Memorials can be made in his name to The Jimmy Fund at http://www.jimmyfundgiving.org/.
