Robert Maynard Dickens, age 84, joined his wife in heaven on March 6, 2019 while at the Legacy House in Ocala FL.

Robert is survived by his 103 year old mother Alma Gray Dickens, of Roanoke Rapids NC; his daughters, Annie Laurie Barrish (Bruce), of West Berlin NJ; Michelle Novella (John), of West Berlin NJ: and Cheryl Sponagle of Dunnellon FL: and his brother Jarvis Dickens (Sally): his sisters Sarah Carr; and Julia Ann Dickens; his brother-in-law Harvey Johnson (Barbara); As well as his 7 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Annie Laura Dickens, of Dunnellon FL; his father, Milton Dickens, of Black Mountain NC; and his brother-in-law, Stanley Carr, of Morehead City NC.

Robert was born July 19, 1934 to Milton & Alma Dickens in Halifax County, NC. He grew up in Black Mountain NC. He attended college at NC State University in Raleigh NC. As well as Tennessee State, where he received his degree. Robert also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years as a photographer from 1953 to 1957.

Robert married the love of his life Annie Laura Johnson on March 7, 1961. After their marriage they made there home in NJ to raise their family together. Robert started his career with FMC corporation, working in transportation for over 30 years before retirement. Robert and Annie Laura moved following retirement to Lake Gaston in Littelton NC for ten years and then Rainbow Springs FL in 2003.

Robert was a family man who enjoyed photography, fishing, camping, square dancing, sports, singing in the church choir, and his years volunteering with the coast guard auxiliary. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 4 o'clock, at the Rainbow Springs Residents beach 9425 SW 206th Ct. Rd. Dunnellon Fl 34432. The big pavilion in the back. With Pastor Eddie Fulford & Debbie Wright officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Inc., PO box 4860 Ocala, FL 34478
