Born on February 17, 1939 in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Bob spent his career years as a mathematics education professor at various universities around the country. "Dr. Bob" earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1974. He was an avid cyclist into his 80's and loved dancing, old time rock-n-roll, boating on the Harris chain of lakes, and dessert. He is survived by his wife Paula Gilbert, daughter Charlotte (Todd) Johnson, son Jon R. Gilbert, granddaughters Lauren Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Jordan (Austin) Haupt, Laci Gilbert and sister Ruthmary (Jim) Male
