Robert (Rob) Mark Gunnerson, age 76, passed away at his home in The Villages, FL on May 4, 2025.

He was born on April 6, 1949 on Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin, to Ester Victoria (Rosengren) and Roger William Gunnerson. His 8th grade Island School graduation class of 13 students remains the largest to date. His family then moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1963 and he attended high school there.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Real Estate and Development, he received his JD from Marquette University Law School in 1974. He spent nearly 25 years with Modine Manufacturing Co. in Racine, WI, serving as Corporate Secretary and then Corporate Treasurer.

In 1999 Rob and his wife Mary Beth decided to "live atop a sand dune" and left corporate life and harsh Wisconsin winters to own and operate two successful ladies' swimwear stores in Destin, FL. They retired in 2015 and moved to The Villages and had 10 wonderful years during which Rob enjoyed playing golf, billiards, card games and expanding his horizons with extensive travel.

Rob will be remembered for his deep and unwavering love for his family, pride in his children, quick wit and story-telling. He was a dedicated and ethical professional throughout his life and these qualities extended into his personal relationships as well. Above all, he loved God and his country. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary Beth (nee Fischer) of The Villages, his son Carl (Scarlett) Gunnerson of Freeport, FL and his daughter Karen Gunnerson Bellezza (John) and grandson Dominic Bellezza of Leonardo, NJ, as well as his sister Ruth Gunnerson of Baileys Harbor, WI. His parents and sister Mary preceded him in death.

Rob's Celebration of Life will take place at 11 AM on Monday, June 23 at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the church who will allocate the funds for the benefit of the needy at Wildwood Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
