Robert L. Jacobson was born on August 14, 1939 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, to Carl Axel Jacobson and Edith (Hultgren) Jacobson. He passed away on February 24, 2024 at his home in Fort Myers, Florida, from Prostate Cancer.

Bob is survived by his three children: Timothy J. (Marcie) Jacobson of Fort Myers, Sonja R. Jacobson (Bernie Marr) of Fort Myers, and Eric A. (Sonja D.) Jacobson of Fordland, Missouri. Eight grandchildren: Eryn (Aaron), Ryker (Amanda), Shelby (Andy), Anika, Kaitlyn, Skyler, Sophey and Jack. Bob would have held his great-grandson by Ryker and Amanda, March 2024. Bob is also survived by a very special friend, Frances Daulton of Las Cruces, NM. Preceding him in death were his parents Carl and Edith, his brother Fred Jacobson, and his sister, Naty Eleanor Harney.

Robert (Bob) was raised in Riverdale, Nebraska, and graduated in 1957 from Kearney Senior High School in Kearney, Nebraska. Bob was a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America), he enjoyed singing in the chorus, and was a  member of the Track and Field and Cross Country teams.

York College, now York University, in York, Nebraska, is where Bob majored in business and graduated with his associate's degree in 1959. He then went on to earn his bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in Education from University of Nebraska, Kearney.

Bob was packed and ready to go to Omaha to join the military, when the night before, the school district in McCool Junction, Nebraska, called and asked if he would be interested in teaching business courses to high school students. Bob accepted the position and lived in York while he taught at McCool High School for one year.

On August 26, 1962, Robert married Marcia Louise Key, and shortly after, the newlyweds moved to Albion, Idaho, where Bob accepted a faculty position at Magic Valley Christian College. When the school year was almost over, Dr. Dale Larsen, President of York College, called and offered Bob a faculty position to teach business subjects and to manage the business office at York College. Bob and Marcia moved back to York and started their family of three children.

At York College, Bob served as faculty, business office manager, and social club sponsor, from 1963 to 1973. He also served on the Board of Trustees for York College for many years. Bob retired from teaching and started many entrepreneurial adventures. Most notably, Power Service Incorporated (PSI) was born in 1974. PSI manufactured and sold hot high pressure washers to the agricultural community, and was an umbrella company for many other endeavors.

Some of Bob's favorite activities were riding bicycles, three wheelers, motorcycles, he had a love for fine German Automobiles, and he had a private pilot's license so that he could enjoy flying his Mooney M20 and his Beechcraft Bonanza. In 1994, Bob moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he retired. The Gulf of Mexico was a beautiful place to take his boat out, and he enjoyed traveling in his RV. Most of all, he was happy he did not have to scoop snow.

Gulf Coast church of Christ is where Bob found many places to serve his brothers and sisters in Christ. He organized the Son Shiners Senior activities for several years, sang with the McGregor Singers, and made the weekly schedule for others to serve during worship. Most of all, Bob loved to welcome new faces as they walked in the front door, and he made sure they got connected to the church family. His love language was helping people.

The family of Robert L. Jacobson will be holding a celebration of his life on April 7, 2024, 2:30 pm at the Gulf Coast church of Christ, 9550 Six Mile Cypress Pkwy, Fort Myers, Florida. A celebration of life will be held in York, Nebraska, at a later date. Bob will be buried with his family in Riverdale, Nebraska.
