On May 31 ^st , Bob Ogren sailed into Valhalla to join his Viking ancestors.  Bob was born on April 7 ^th , 1940 in Brooklyn, New York.  He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.  His career calling was as a Fireman with the New York City Fire Department where he spent 20 years driving the "Super Pumper Truck", one of the largest vehicles in the Fire Department in the streets of New York City.  Bob was fiercely proud of his Swedish heritage and wore a small silver Viking ship on a neck chain his whole life.  Bob was also an athlete winning many Competitions in tennis and golf.

After Bob retired, he sailed his 39-foot catamaran from New York to Hollywood, Florida where he lived until moving to The Villages in 2006.  He was a member of the FDNY343 organization.  He was an avid and excellent golfer who attained two holes-in-one and freely dispensed advice to all who would listen.  He loved to hear "Nice Shot, Bob!" and no one ever heard him utter a swear word.

Bob and his family suffered a terrible loss when his son Joseph "Jay" Ogren was lost in the World Trade Center on 9-11-2001.  Jay was a New York City Fireman doing his duty when the Towers fell.  Bob had a customized golf cart built to memorialize not only his Son, but the other 342 NY Firefighters lost that day.  He proudly took the cart to Firehouses in New York City and displayed it constantly here in The Villages.

Bob is survived by three children, Trish, Eric, and Lance and 9 Grandchildren, Sarah Ogren, Lance, Kayla, and Brian Golden, Joseph, Christopher, and Taylor Ogren, and Hudson and Gigi Ogren and his Sister, Dolores McNaughton.  He was predeceased by his two sons, Joseph "Jay" and Robert Ogren.

Bob's funeral mass will be held on July 12 ^th at 10:00 A.M. at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, Florida.  His ashes will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell immediately following the Mass.
