Pion, Robert Earl, 87, formerly of North Prospect Street, East Providence, RI, died peacefully at home (1521 East Schwartz Blvd, Lady Lake, FL 32159) on July 29, 2026. He was the wonderful, beloved husband of Pamela J. (Enos) Pion for 38 years.

Born in Providence, he grew up in Seekonk MA where he was a son of Earl and Florence (Roberts) Pion. Robert was a graduate of the class of 1957 at East Providence High School and continued his education by attending URI and Brown University.

Mr. Pion was a proud member of the United States Army’s 1st Calvary Division in Korea during the start of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Expert Badge with Rifle Bar and the Korea Defense Service Medal. He served from 1962-1964.

In his earlier years at his home on Narragansett Terrace, Riverside, RI his love for boating led him to build a 19’ Carolina Dory/Skiff and rowboats for his sons and their friends. In later years, he and his wife Pamela traveled up and down Narragansett Bay to the islands as far as Newport, RI. They also took trips to Martha’s Vineyard. Land travel destinations took them to Morrocco, London, Rome and Costa Rica.

After having worked in the heavy construction industry, Bob retired in 2018 estimating heavy and highway construction projects specializing in sewer and water pipe projects for the John Rocchio Corporation.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children with his former wife, Kathleen Macinnis. Two sons, Robert Pion and his wife Kathleen and Andrew Pion and his wife Gail and one daughter, Alyson Pion Macinnis. His grandchildren, Alexander, Lauren, Andrew and Matthew. He is also survived by one brother, Russell Pion, and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Florida with old and new friends. Because family and friends meant so much to Bob and can’t all be together at this time, the hope is you would join with each other, wherever you are, to celebrate his wonderful life too. Burial private at a later date.
