Obituary

Robert Roy Reffi, born on October 5th, 1932, in Winterport, Maine, passed away on February, 15, 2024. Robert's journey began in Brattleboro, Vermont, where he excelled as an athlete during his school years at Saint Michael's High School. He continued his education at Ithaca College in New York, studying Education before bravely joining the United States Army during the Korean War.

During his service with the 38th Infantry Regiment, Robert displayed exceptional dedication and courage, earning the rank of Sergeant and receiving several prestigious awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation (South Korea), and United Nations Service Medal. After his honorable discharge in 1955, Robert pursued further education, obtaining a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education from Keene State College in New Hampshire.

Robert's professional career was marked by his passion for teaching and coaching. He began at Austin School for the Deaf before returning to Saint Michael's Catholic School, where he taught Science, Math, and Physical Education while coaching various sports teams. His commitment to his students and athletes was evident in his late-night efforts with his wife, Terri, washing and folding uniforms for the teams.

Throughout his life, Robert's journey took him to various places, from opening a Family corner Market in Manchester, NH, to serving as the Director of Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Peterborough, NH, . After retiring in 1986, Robert continued to work part-time at the Marriott World Center's Steak House in Orlando, Florida.

Robert's personal life was marked by love and resilience. After the passing of his first wife, Theresa, in 1997, he found solace and companionship with Shirley, whom he married in 2006. Together, they embarked on various adventures, moving to different locations in Florida, always seeking new experiences and enjoying their hobbies, including taking family cruises, golfing, and spending time at the beach.

Robert was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, Lions Club, and Ventura Country Club Association. His involvement in these organizations reflected his commitment to serving his community and supporting those in need.

A Memorial Service to honor Robert's life will be held on March 22, 2024, at 2:30 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the VFW Post 1, located 10 miles south on Highway 1. Robert's legacy of love, resilience, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
