Robert “Bob” Schad, 84, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026 surrounded by his family. Bob was born in New York City on September 10, 1942 to Robert and Mary Schad. He grew up in Bronx, NY and later Franklin Square, NY, where he met his neighbor Evelyn Marino when he was 13. They married in 1961 and were by each other's side ever since. They moved to The Villages in 2013.

Bob always had a passion for automobiles and owned over 100 cars over the years, including a number of antiques; his favorite was a 1939 Ford coupe. He was a wealth of information about all things automotive, and volunteered at the Hershey Antique Auto Museum while living in PA. He and Evelyn later shifted to collecting, repairing and selling antique items, including car parts and memorabilia, radios, and more.

He started a career with Grumman Aerospace in materials science after graduating high school. At Grumman, Bob participated in the Apollo space program, working on the Lunar Module. He also worked on the development of the Navy’s F-14 Fighter Jet. He later joined IBM at one of their Research Centers, also as a materials science engineer, partnering on numerous patents in his career.

Bob is survived by his wife, Evelyn, daughters Diana (Jon) York and Debbie Rubino (Paul McKenna), grandchildren Brian York, Tyler (Alexandra) York, Emily Rubino and Thomas Rubino, and great-granddaughter Zoey York.

He was also fortunate to still have dear friends in his life from childhood with whom he shared many memories.

A memorial service will be held on October 1, 2026 from 2 to 5 pm at Baldwin Brothers, 3990 SR44, Wildwood, FL.
