Obituary

Robert Francis Smith, Sr "Bob", passed away July 27. He was at the independent living facility, The Gallery, in Cape Coral. He was 79 years of age. However, despite the fact he kept saying he was 80. He was moved to Florida in March for a third time by his oldest son and two daughters. They wanted to make sure he was closer to them due to his declining health.

Bob served in the Army from June of 1964 till June of 1968. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. His assigned position was tele type maintenance. He wanted to follow the footsteps of his older sister and brother who also served in the military.

After being discharged from the Army he held many different jobs and moved his family to five different states. He lived in Ohio, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama and Montana. Before moving back to Florida a second time in 1988 with his then wife Carrie and five children they lived in Montana. He felt led to start a mission or a church there.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, he settled in Ohio with his wife and first son in 1968. In 1970, the family moved to Florida, followed by Kentucky and Alabama, where he pursued college and seminary studies. In July of 1977, he relocated to Montana to begin a mission and share the word of God. Eleven years later, he returned to Florida, choosing to live east of the Mississippi River to make visiting family easier. In 1993, he made one final move to Ohio, where he remained until 2025, when three of his children brought him back to Florida to be closer to them.

He loved hiking the Ohio valley trails and being outdoors. He traveled the mountains and plains of Montana and other western states. He was very handy at building and constructing items to use around the house.

He is survived by his five children Rob (Holly), Chris, Kati (Jose), Jon, and Alie. His eight grandchildren Gabrielle, Nathaniel (Jenny), Rebekah, Ashley, Bennett, Annabelle, Peyton, Jonny, and Victoria. And four great grandchildren Carson, Xander, Shyloh and Oliver. He is preceded in death by his second wife Thaya, his sister Mary and two brothers, Charles and Frank and parents Clinton and Elizabeth.

He will be missed and loved by all who knew him while on this earth. We love you Dad!
