Obituary

Robert Daniel Stehle, 52, of Citrus Springs, FL, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on June 5, 2025.

Biography: Born in Connecticut on February 28, 1973, he was a loving son to the late Robert J. and Marianne M. Stehle, and was also the youngest sibling of four.

Robert grew up in Monroe, Connecticut where he received the first half of his high school education at Masuk High School, and then when he relocated with his family to Florida in 1990, he graduated from Crystal River High School in 1992.

Many of Robert's childhood years in Connecticut were spent playing AYSO soccer, that he truly enjoyed, so it didn't come as a surprise that when in Florida, and as his two children grew, Robert relished in watching them play at their soccer games, and also had immense joy knowing that his son continued to play soccer as a recreational sport into his adulthood. Robert enjoyed watching football, especially his favorite Miami Dolphins team. Video gaming was also a favorite pastime where Robert cherished the memories of playing multiplayer games with his children, nephews and niece. Together, Robert and his best friend, Greg Teeter, went on archeology excursions to dig and collect arrowheads on Greg's property, up until Greg passed away in 2022. Robert will definitely be remembered for his dirt bike riding passion and his Honda CR 250 dirt bike (#112). Robert loved dirt biking so much that he not only taught both his children and his four nephews how to ride using his mini 50 dirt bike, but he designed and created a dirt bike trail on his late parents 12+ acre farm land in Crystal River, FL, for other children and adults to practice and learn how to dirt bike ride as well.

Robert excelled in the roofing industry for many years until he suffered life threatening injuries and had to be resuscitated after a dirt bike accident in 2009. The accident immediately required Robert to have pins surgically implanted in his left leg; and then later in life, the unnoticed damage that was caused from the dirt bike accident, brought about a lot of pain where surgery was again necessary to replace his left hip and also his right knee. Robert did not allow the dirt bike accident, nor the surgeries to alter his energizer bunny determination to keep busy, but also to find work to continue the support for his two children.

At the time of his passing, and since 2019, Robert was in a loving relationship with Merry Nehls. While with Merry, and because of his love of all animals, Robert flourished on their working farm, which gave him freedom to be near a multitude of animals and nature. Robert's animal farming was an endeavor that required a commitment to the welfare and love of animals; including building shelters, feeding, overseeing breeding, birthing and the growth and development of the animals.

In the current dark moments, Robert's family has chosen to remember the light that Robert brought into so many lives. Robert's zeal for life drew multitudes of friends to him. Robert wholeheartedly loved all of his family and friends, and was respected deeply by each and every one of them. Robert was full of life, and offered a helping hand to those in need, even when he was in need of help, too. Robert also loved and had faith in God, so his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and in the loving arms of the Lord and his beloved family and friends that have passed before him. Robert will sincerely be missed, but he will never be forgotten.

Family: Robert is survived by his son and daughter, Cole and Kelsey Stehle of Dunnellon, FL; sister, Nancianne Stehle Boland of Citrus Springs, FL; sister, Suzanne Stehle of Ocklawaha, FL; nephew and wife, Blake and Hayley Dodson of Auburndale, FL; nephew and wife, Christian and Kaylee Holmes of Ocklawaha, FL; niece and nephews, Kayla, Richard and Seth Boland of Sandy Hook, CT; uncle and aunt, Joseph and Lindsey McGrath of Clermont, FL, five great nieces and nephews in FL; and many, many other relatives.

Robert is preceded in death by both his parents, Robert J. and Marianne M. Stehle; brother, Joseph R. Stehle, and his beloved dog and companion, Nibbles.
