Robert Louis Stephens, 82. passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017. surrounded by his family and friends. Robert was born October 10, 1934 to Oral and Naomi (Harris) Stephens in Big Lost Creek area of Samaria, Kentucky, the youngest of 2 children. He graduated from Wurtland High School, Kentucky.

After high school, Robert served in the United States Air Force.

Robert (Bob) touched many lives as he worked and served in many different positions. Bob devoted several years to working at Forest Lake Academy in Apopka, Florida. Bob retired as a Horticulture Specialist from Disney. He enhanced the grounds at Disney and had a passion for gardening and wildlife. He was the director of the Disney World cast members' Endangered Species Club at Disney, teaching others how to conserve our wildlife and natural resources. In his spare time he could be found gardening, rehabilitating injured animals and building purple martin birdhouses. He enjoyed playing baseball and played on several different leagues. He was proficient at rebuilding and tuning pianos. He was an avid fisherman, winning numerous tournaments. Bob never met a stranger and was generous to anyone who crossed his path. He was innovative and an inspiration to all he met.

Robert is survived by his son, Craig Stephens; son, Eric Stephens; Daughter, Julie Shuford; grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan, brother, Cecil Stephens; significant other & best friend, Margaret Mounce and a host of other relatives and family friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his lovely wife, Lois Arlene Bellore Stephens.

At his request, a small graveside service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Edgewood Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, Florida. Baldwin Brothers will be directing the service.
