Obituary

Robert "Poppy" Tennyson (75) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away surrounded by his loving family in his final moments on Friday, July 19, 2024. Robert was born on November 30, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY to Peter and Mary Tennyson. He graduated from St. Leo's College and was a proud Brother of the Sigma Beta fraternity. Here is where he met his wife of 53 years, Peggy. Robert was a Vice President of Advertising Sales with the Catholic News Publishing Company for over fifty years.

Sadly, Robert was predeceased by his parents and his brother Richard Tennyson.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, sister Mary Jane Eifler, and children Robert (Christine) Tennyson, Brian (Shelly) Tennyson, Bridget (Keith) Hallman, and Mary (Chris) McGuire. He was the proudest Poppy to 8 grandchildren Caleigh, Shelby, Charlotte, Ryan, Liam, Sean, Molly, and Nora. And uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Rob was the epitome of a family man and cherished every moment he spent with them. Rob enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorite days were spent in his backyard listening to music with an ice-cold beer and BBQing for his kids and their friends. He was a dedicated father and grandfather who always showed up for his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities any chance he could. He spent years serving on the board of the Wallkill Wolves Soccer Club, which his children were active members of. Rob was always up for a good "it's a small world" story and served as an unofficial New York City tour guide to guests. Poppy loved playing golf but it did not necessarily love him back. One of his nicknames was Bobquest because he could talk about routes and directions for hours. In his later life, he enjoyed spending his days at Lake Naomi in the Poconos where he had a home for 14 years.

He cherished all his grandchildren and carried his love for his children onto them. A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. To say he will be missed is an understatement, to say he will always be remembered is a given!

Rob's memorial services will be held at a later date.
