IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roberta Rae
Thompson
October 5, 1966 – December 8, 2024
In loving memory of Roberta Rae Thompson of Weirsdale, Florida, affectionately known as Bobbi, it is with heavy hearts that we announce her passing on December 8th, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on October 5th, 1966, in Jefferson, Iowa, Bobbi was a vibrant spirit who left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Bobbi was a force to be reckoned with, possessing an infectious laugh and innate ability to befriend anyone making her a cherished presence in countless lives.
She married her high school sweetheart, Dean Thompson, on a beautiful May Day in 1984, a union that blessed them with two wonderful children—Alexander and Ashley. She welcomed her son on September 5th, 1984, and her daughter on January 2nd, 1989. Two of her greatest and most proud achievements undoubtedly were her children. Her bond with Dean was anchored in love and resilience, lasting until he predeceased.
Bobbi graduated from Paton-Churdan High School in 1985 and pursued higher education, earning her Associates of Applied Science Degree from Hamilton College in 2002. Her academic accolades were a testament to her dedication and proved an inspiration to her children as she completed her degree while being a mom, wife, and working full time.
In 2003, Bobbi found companionship with Rick Ressler, her devoted partner of 21 years who survives her today. Their shared passions led them to make a cozy home in Florida in October 2007. Bobbi dearly loved life on the farm, amongst her beloved Zebu cattle, playful dogs, and cats. Her and Rick's farm, Stormy Hills Farm, was bustling with the charm of beautiful sunrises and the love they both had for all of their animals and each other. She was deeply rooted in the community where she found joy mentoring young FFA members with her passion for the Zebu breed and as the head of the American Miniature Zebu Association helping those across the country with their Zebu cattle. She leaves behind a legacy in the Zebu Community that will continue to inspire for years to come.
Bobbi's adventurous spirit extended beyond her farm. She found tremendous joy and freedom riding her beloved Harley Davidson Fat Boy and cherished serene horseback rides along the beaches of Bradenton, Florida thanks to Florida Beach Horses.
She leaves behind her life partner Rick Ressler; children Alexander & JoAnna Thompson and Ashley & Michael McEnany; grandchildren Emma and Jackson Thompson; parents Raymond and Charlotte Dagit; and her siblings Shelley Naeve, Becky Dagit, and Richard Dagit; along with many cherished aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dean Thompson; grandfathers Dean Smalley and Titus Dagit; and grandmothers Marjorie Smalley and Ethel Dagit. Her family had the fortune of being loved by Bobbi who's legacy of kindness and laughter will echo through those she leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bobbi's extraordinary life during a visitation on December 19th, from 5-7 pm, at BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 1008 Bichara Boulevard, The Villages, FL 32159. For Family and Friends back in the Midwest, the family will be doing a celebration of life for Bobbi at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions to be made to Florida Beach Horses of Bradenton, FL, or to your local FFA Chapter in her loving memory.
As we gather to honor her memory, let us remember Bobbi as she lived—a beacon of laughter and love. Let her radiant spirit and echoing laughter remain etched in our hearts, a gentle reminder of the courage to live and love richly. Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com .
