Obituary

Rocky Allen Luckeydoo, 77, of Leesburg, Florida, went to be with his Savior on May 13, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Pauline (Miller) Luckeydoo, siblings, Joyce Luckeydoo O’Reilly and Coman Luckeydoo, Sr., and his beloved wife, Donna Luckeydoo. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Frank and Mike Luckeydoo, and many nephews and nieces. Rocky was born on April 1, 1949, in Newark, Ohio. At 18, Rocky joined the Army and served our country for four years. After being honorably discharged, Rocky used the GI bill to attend college classes. He settled in the Columbus area and joined Columbia Gas of Ohio. He was promoted many times over his 25+ year career and retired from the engineering office. In 1977, Rocky married the love of his life, Donna Issler, to whom he was married for 47 years until her passing in 2024. In addition to being involved with their nephews and nieces, they had many beloved dogs throughout their lives. Having never met a stranger, Rocky made friends easily, and he and Donna visited them all over the country. Traveling, playing pinochle, and flipping flea market treasures were the couple’s shared interests, along with being fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Rocky’s passion was large-mouth bass fishing. He competed in many tournaments and was a wonderful mentor to those new to the sport. Rocky and Donna became Florida snowbirds after retirement. After a long search for the perfect spot, they settled on Highland Lakes to call home and joined nearby St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. They made many new friends, whom they cherished. Rocky will be remembered fondly for his wonderful sense of humor, big personality, and willingness to help others by those who called him son, brother, husband, uncle, and friend. Rocky will be interred with military honors at Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell . His beloved wife, Donna, will also be interred with him. Family and friends are welcome to join the service when the date is announced.
