Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roger Scott on September 26, 2026, at the age of 67. Roger born and raised in Syracuse and Skaneateles, NY, before joining the United States Army and proudly serving his country for four years.Roger loved an adventure. He learned to scuba dive at the age of 13 and took flying lessons as a teenager. While serving in the Army, Roger joined a parachute jump squad for fun. He became a black belt in Tae Kwon Do in his 40s, and at 49, he trained in Muay Thai in Thailand, just to see if he could do it. Roger practiced as a criminal defense attorney for 34 years, up until his retirement in 2024. He loved to fight for something he believed in, and he believed in the United States Constitution and the principle that no one is above, or below, the law.Roger is survived by his loving family, his wife of 30 years Catherine (Cathy) Medling, his daughter Lauren, his sister Margo and her husband Nick and their children Skylar and Graham, his cousin Rick, and Roger's little shadow Bebe.We let go of an amazing man, a loving father and husband, a protective older brother, a man who was a good friend. When someone needed help, Roger would be there. Roger was a generous spirit, funny, kind, mischievous, and eternally, somehow, optimistic. He was too smart to be naive, but Roger always looked for a bright side, he held onto hope. The world is a smaller place without him. Roger loved his life, he loved his family, and his family adored him. He will be missed.
